Announcing the Cascadian Anarchist Olympics!

We found this on Grey Coast Anarchists, who found it on Puget Sound Anarchists. Word is getting around Cascadia!
Their site is www.cascadiananarchistolympics.wordpress.com

A weekend of Anarchy in Olympia, April 20, 21, & 22!

We’re excited to announce three days and two nights of Cascadians converging on Olympia to practice our skills in a series of mock competitions, short demonstrations, skillshares and games that help to arm us with tactical knowledge for upcoming protests, demonstrations and actions. We believe sharing this knowledge and gathering socially will better prepare us all for success and safety on the streets, on May Day and beyond.

Friday night, we introduce each other to the format of the (A) Olympics as well as find lodging and camping options.

Saturday and Sunday mornings, we will be doing a series of presentations and hands-on workshops aimed at sharing skills and knowledge that will help us fight and win both on and off the streets, such as cell phone security, tear gas defense, and more. Saturday and Sunday afternoons will be mock competitions, including speed consensus, slingshot target practice, team de-blocing and more.

We’re exploring getting food, music, and speakers to help fill out the schedule.

Childcare may be provided. We aren’t sure at this point, but we’re trying.

If you would like to facilitate a workshop, presentation or skillshare, or if you need special accommodations with lodging or anything else, or if you have any other questions or concerns,

please contact the organizers at cascadiananarchistolympics(at)riseup(dot)net

Write A Letter to an Imprisoned Comrade!

The story of Eric Desouza is one we’ve been following closely since hearing about his situation from some San Francisco comrades. Eric is an anarchist from Oakland. He has been active in the Oakland Commune, and has organized and acted in previous projects and initiatives around the Bay Area. He was framed and arrested on ten counts, some felonies, including resisting arrest and a few for assault on pigs. He is the definition of brave.
He was facing 15 years for all his charges, and the court pigs were salivating to take it to trial. Eric took a plea deal, and got 180 days. A part of ourselves is missing, locked away in a cage.
Wipe away your tears; they’ll only blur the vision that we need clear.
We love you, Eric. Stay strong.

And if you want to help Eric stay strong, send him a fucking letter. Let him know you’re thinking about him, and let him know that our hearts bleed every day until he’s returned to our loving arms.

From Bay Area Anarchist Black Cross (www.bayareaabc.wordpress.com):

SO the pigs fucked up Eric’s last name, word that we are getting now is that it is SOUZA, at least for now, we will update it whenever we get word but until then this is his address. Please write Eric letters in support of his resistance to fascism and his struggle. If we don’t support those who fight to stomp out fascism, the most overtly oppressive type of system, who will we support?

As Eric said,

“So a few laws got broken and a few cops got hurt. Big deal. People get hurt everyday and why should police be so special? Why are they better automatically for wearing a badge and a gun. That doesn’t make them better. I just means they’re cowards. The law is not right. It has nothing to do with morals and has everything to do with protecting interests that are way above everyone else.

Just more of a reason to want to burn this mutherfucker to the ground.

I really wish that occupy was more radical or would become more radical in the near future. People who put themselves on the line in these kinds of actions don’t have the support they deserve because more people in America are afraid to do the right thing and risk losing their job or possible go to jail.

Going to jail as fucked up as it is is just part of the movement. Millions of people are going to have to be incarcerated for similar shit before a revolution happens in this country where millions refuse to work and fight against every mechanisms of oppression around them be it NAZI’S, POLICE, MAINSTREAM MEDIA, BANKS, CORPORATIONS AND OTHER GROUPS out there that work to keep the system of profit going uninterrupted 24/7.

Not enough people going to jail for a good cause these days. Most people are locked up for just trying to escape the reality that is forced upon them by taking drugs or selling it to survive rather than plugging into something that can have the potential to overthrow everything but that is not the way minds work which is reason why oppression is allowed to happen in the first place. So I guess I’m not the only one that’s fucked.

Anyway, I can go on forever about revolution and how much I wish Oakland was Athens and how everybody is wrong and I’m right but I’m just going to end my long statement with this paragraph. I’ll be gone for MAY DAY. Raise some hell! DON’T GET CAUGHT!”

All who support Eric should write him as much as possible (when you’re in jail for extended periods of time, not getting mail really sucks) at this address, even if your shy you can just say hi.

SOUZA, ERIC X-4779436 48N2205
Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center
12500 Bruceville Road Elk Grove, CA 95757

NOTE: The pigs put Eric’s last name into the system as SOUZA, not DEsouza. We should expect them to change it once the mail starts coming in (and possibly not give it to him because the name doesn’t match) so check back with the BAABC in the coming days and weeks, they’ll let you know if it changes, and they have comrades visiting him as much as possible so there’ll hopefully be pretty regular updates on how he’s doing.

Solidarity with Antifa!
Solidarity with nazi fighters!
Solidarity with Eric!
Until every cell is empty,
Fire to the prisons!

Callout for Anti-Capitalist March, May Day Seattle!

From pugetsoundanarchists.org:

May 1, 12 noon, Westlake Plaza
Anti-Capitalist March
Dont’t Go to Work
Ditch School
TAKE THE STREETS!

The same processes are at work everywhere. In our homes, at school, and at work, our lives are taken from us. The banks and landlords profit from our homes while bosses and owners profit from our work and schools control the youth.

Today capitalism is on the offensive. For workers, it’s the attack on workplace organizing and the scarcity of even the lowest paid jobs. For students, it’s rising tuition and loss of ethnic studies and arts programs. For immigrants, it’s the militarization of the borders, the harassment and racism on the job, and raids by ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement). But we are not just against the current excesses of capitalism, we are against the system itself. Because:

Capitalists exploit us at work – We don’t work because we want to. We work because we have no other way to make money. We sell our time and energy to a boss in order to buy the things we need to survive. During our time at work we make things or provide services that our bosses sell. Our everyday working lives are sold hour after hour, week after week, generation after generation.

Capitalists profit from and control what we need to survive Banks and landlords profit from our need for housing. Actually, all the things we need to survive—the water we drink, the food we eat, even the roofs over our heads—are turned into commodities that someone makes a profit from. This excludes many of us from the necessities of life.

Capitalists Terrorize Immigrants – Hundreds of immigrants and refugees are forcibly deported every day for doing what humans have done for thousands of years—moving in search of a better life, escaping poverty, abuse, discrimination, disasters, persecution, or war. Those on the wrong side of borders, whose homelands are often torn apart by the same economic practices that define the so-called First World, are illegalized and criminalized and are forced to work for less than those with papers.

Capitalists create schools that produce obedient workers and unquestioning citizens – The primary task of education in a capitalistic society is to teach students to ‘respect authority.’ Authority is imposed through a system that punishes those who do not do what they are told and rewards conformity. Strict adherence to trivial rules teaches us to obey no matter how stupid the order is. This prepares us for the world of bosses, cops, politicians, and military officers ordering us around and treating us as inferior.

Capitalism affects everyone differently, but regardless of who we are, as working class people we are exploited by the system in one way or another. That pervasiveness can be threatening, but it is also a common link that we can use to struggle against it together. Simply standing up for our own interests in this struggle is the starting point for undermining capitalism. – For more info soon check may1stseattle.org

Statement from Eric ‘The Nazi Slayer’ Desouza on his current situation

[
Editor’s note: Eric is an anarchist from Oakland who was arrested at an Antifa action in Sacramento: http://bayareaabc.wordpress.com/2012/03/03/fascists-confronted-in-sacramento-clashes-with-police-break-out-in-the-street/
His friends and family bonded him out on a payment plan. They still need almost $6000 to cover payments: http://bayareaabc.wordpress.com/2012/03/12/eric-desouza-bail-fund/

Solidarity with all those who attempt to be a blade in the throat of fascism.
Until every cage is empty,
Fire to the prisons.

My situation? My situation is totally fucked. What else can I say? I think I went down on some bullshit charges. I also think anybody in my shoes would have made the same decision to cop a plea. If I had a lot of money, I wouldn’t be in this mess but I’m not rich so this is the justice that I get. It hurt me a lot when my attorney working pro bono told me that the NLG will not take my case because I’m facing some serious felony counts. Uuuhg.I really thought they’d have my back.

I’m constantly learning new things but hey, they have been there most of the time and they’ve helped out a lot of people in the bay area so I can’t really knock them too hard. I still got some other cases coming up that I’m pretty confident they will handle in the future during my stay in Sac Rio Correctional center. YAY!

Don’t be charged with a felony if you want NLG representation and if you don’t know the law. LEARN IT! Sheriffs told me that running from the police is resisting arrest which I think is bullshit. I call it fleeing the scene and not trying to get trampled by a 1 ton draft horse. And the additional resisting charge struggling with officers is a felony resisting count but i didn’t even do that but fuck the facts. They say I did it so I have the DA and the Judge to deal with who are always going to stick with the police no matter what.

So a few laws got broken and a few cops got hurt. Big deal. People get hurt everyday and why should police be so special? Why are they better automatically for wearing a badge and a gun. That doesn’t make them better. I just means they’re cowards. The law is not right. It has nothing to do with morals and has everything to do with protecting interests that are way above everyone else.

(A) Graffiti From Around Olympia

The Olympia Anarchist General Assembly was yesterday (Saturday the 17th). None of the editors of this blog were able to make it, and we have yet to hear a report-back.

However, we were fortunate enough to get some pictures of some anarchist-related graffiti (and some that probably isn’t anarchist-related but we still think deserves to be broadcast) from around Olympia from a comrade in the area. If you have any more good ones from the South Sound to Our Wild Harbor, send us an email and we’ll put them up.
For the love of Anarchy though, don’t give us any incriminating information.
